Here’s how to get involved in Arlo’s Art Therapy

The musician is launching an Open Call to anyone who finds catharsis through creativity

Arlo’s Art Therapy kicks off today with Arlo Parks’ Open Call to anyone who wants to explore the healing power of art. If you’re an artist, writer, illustrator, designer or any creative who has found art making cathartic, the musician wants to hear from you.

To be in with a chance of seeing your work flypostered around London, Manchester and Bristol while Parks tours each city (and to be paid for it too!), or to be a part of the Art Therapy Journal, all you need to do is submit:

  • a printable flat portrait image of an artwork which you found therapeutic to create
  • this image should be portrait, 300dpi, inPNG, JPEG or PDF format and able to be printed (for full details see our T&Cs)
  • a short message, of a couple of sentences maximum, explaining the significance of your selected artwork

And if your practice isn’t two-dimensional, don’t panic. This can be any flat portrait image that showcases your work; whether that’s the work itself, or an image taken of it. So a drawing, photograph, poem, or an image of a sculpture are all equally valid.

Submissions open today, Tuesday 5th October, and will run until midnight on Monday 18th October.

To submit your work, and your accompanying explanation, all you need to do is fill in the submission form below, and a dropbox invitation to submit your work will be sent out to you by email.

All entrants must be aged 18 and over, and can be based anywhere in the world. Three winners will be selected by Arlo Parks, Dazed and Converse, and all three winning works will be displayed on posters around London, Manchester and Bristol in selected areas near Arlo Parks’ November tour spots.

And that’s not all either, additional submissions will be selected to feature in Arlo’s Art Therapy Journal too. Insights, meditations and instructions from Arlo Parks will run through the pages of this collaborative journal, which has been created to empower and encourage anyone to find therapeutic catharsis through artistic practice. The creators of the works included in the journal will also be paid a fee for their efforts, and the bespoke journal will be available to buy on Arlo Parks’ website in December, with all proceeds going to CALM.

Watch Arlo Parks outline her Call To Action above.

Before you fill in our form you can read the T&Cs in full here, and stay tuned for more to come from Arlo’s Art Therapy too.

The open call has now ended, winners will be announced soon
