What is the future of beauty? We’re here to show you
Welcome to Dazed Beauty, a new platform from Dazed celebrating identity, self-expression and creativity through the transformational power of beauty.
Every day, Dazed Beauty will bring you articles, pictures, videos and a host of genre-defying multimedia projects dedicated to spotlighting the people who are radically redefining the way we look at the way we look.
From the Brooklyn bruja blending witchcraft with wellness, to the 3D artist dreaming up alien landscapes, to the eerie Instagram star who has rebelled against her religious upbringing to create a new identity online, Dazed Beauty is more than just the latest products and procedures. It’s a space for us to document, deconstruct and experiment with beauty in all its forms, in every dimension, and tell the stories of the lived experience each one of us has in our own individual bodies as we navigate the world, both online and off.
Across the next few weeks, much of our inaugural content will consider what the future of beauty itself is. Our launch campaign, Choose Your Player, imagines the mind-blowing possibilities of what beauty might look like in the years to come, featuring digital artworks, photo stories, and think pieces about everything from robotics and race, to gender binaries and biohacking. The centrepiece of the campaign is an interactive gallery of 3D avatars featuring an eclectic mix of the people we feel embody the future of beauty.
We’re also excited to share with you our definitive and ever-expanding encyclopaedia of the new beauty pioneers you need to know now. This catalogue of talent lays the foundation of our Dazed Beauty Community, a database of emerging talent who each bring something magically mutational about the way they approach their creative practices and self-image.
Across these first few months of Dazed Beauty, what we really want to ask is a fundamental question of identity: When do we become ourselves? Our truest selves, our final form? Do we ever, or are we in fact multiple versions of ourselves, coexisting and intermingling, never fixed or finished as we shape shift from one moment in time to the next?
So far, one thing seems clear. True beauty, as we see it, comes from the freedom to be whoever you want to be. To be able to choose your player, choose your future, become your fantasy. To dye your hair, paint your face, rebel against the world or just stay in your bedroom and create a world inside your head.
Because beauty allows for the possibility of infinite transformation, whether that’s physically or virtually. Both of the flesh, and in the soul.
So, who do you want to be today?
