King Kendrick is back, and now, he’s got a Chanel film to his name. The musician’s as-yet-untitled track has become the soundtrack to a new short heralding the arrival of the French house’s SS24 Haute Couture show, which will take place in Paris tomorrow (January 23).
The black and white film, called The Button, sees Chanel ambassador Margaret Qualley rush to a train station in a bid to make it to Paris, only to find the last ticket just sold out. Cut to kind stranger Naomi Campbell, who “doesn’t wish to intrude” but hears her plight and hands her her own ticket. Does Margaret make it in time? Find out for yourself by watching below.
With the dust already settling on a full throttle menswear season which saw Prada make the drudgery of the 9-5 look almost sexy, Loewe send out influencer starter kits inspired by our obsession with social media, and Pharrell drop a rootin’, toot in’ Wild West-inspired collection at Louis Vuitton, the SS24 Haute Couture season got underway this morning with Schiaparelli.
This time around, designer Daniel Roseberry was back digging into the film archives, turning out a sci-fi influenced collection that hinted towards Alien, Blade Runner, and more. As well as a robot baby crafted from the contents of your kitchen junk drawer – like old cellphones, CDs, and digital cameras – there were nods towards HR Giger’s xenomorphs and the kind of tailoring seen in old episodes of Star Trek.
Keep your eyes on Dazed for more from the shows, including Chanel, Simone Rocha and Jean Paul Gaultier, and Maison Margiela.
