...and more fashion news this week
In a move reminiscent of Nicole Kidman’s elated post-divorce photos, Shakira attended the AW23 couture shows with a massive “NO” built up across her chest while promoting her upcoming album. A little over a year after her own separation from Gerard Piqué, Shakira has become a pop cultural symbol of embattled revenge. In “Monotonía”, she tells Piqué that his “brain needs a little work,” and with this look – a diamanté-encrusted trench coat taken from Viktor & Rolf’s AW08 collection – she seems to telegraph a sense of newfound independence. Or perhaps it was because she knew she was going to be sitting next to Camilla Cabello, and didn’t have the energy to make small talk. It’s a bit Britney Spears in her “Dump Him” t-shirt, and a bit Princess Diana’s revenge dress… albeit with a little less subtlety and seduction.
In other fashion news this week, Cardi B made a big bird return to the couture circus – which you can read all about here – while Heaven and Blumarine released their much-rumoured collaboration. For everything else you may have missed, click through the gallery below.

Gentle Monster collaborated with cult jewellers D’heygere on a collection made up of glasses that blend jewellery and eyewear. Nimble frames and black-out shades are adorned at the temples with silver rings and earrings; you can see more here.
NIKE HONOURS THE GODDESS WITHIN
This week, Nike put on a massive spectacle in Paris, outlining plans for its next womenswear era. Dubbed Goddess Reawakened, the event took the form of a 40-minute performance directed, choreographed and led by Parris Goebel, who was accompanied by more than 30 Nike athletes and partners. The show teased upcoming collaborations with Martine Rose, Yoon Ahn, and Feng Chen Wang. Click here to see more from that.

Head down to Eccleston Yards to soak in all of that.
VETEMENTS PRAYS TO THE MADONNA
This week, Guram Gvasalia landed a long-read interview in the New York Times, where he outlined his plans to overtake Demna in fashion status. His first port of call comes via Madonna, for who he is designing the costumes for her upcoming tour. “When she can ask anyone in the world, and people will probably do it for free and be less complicated than I am, it gives you a certain security that you’ve done something right,” he said. “It’s really a blessing.”
MARTINE ROSE JUST DOES IT
Martine Rose’s berserk football boot-winklepicker hybrids got a new imagining at the designer’s SS24 show. Rendered in strangely covetable colourways, those shoes will now form the basis of a new collaborative capsule with Nike. The offering comprises football jerseys, football manager trench coats, and monogrammed tailoring. Click here to see more.
TOM FORD RETURNS TO MILAN
A new era of Tom Ford will kick off at the SS24 edition of Milan Fashion Week in September, where Peter Hawkings will debut his first collection since being inserted at the helm in April. “Italian craftsmanship and excellence have been a source of inspiration for our collections and I am delighted to be showing during Milan Fashion Week,” the designer said.
