Talks from the likes of Coucou Chloe, Campbell Addy, and Molly Manning Walker made the event series one to remember
Back in October, Gucci’s immersive exhibition Gucci Cosmos officially landed in London – more specifically, at 180 Studios, where the birth of Guccio Gucci's artisanal luggage atelier in Florence is reimagined courtesy of visionary British set designer Es Devlin. Things didn’t stop there, though. On November 7, the luxury label kicked off a live events series to celebrate the launch, aptly titled Gucci Cosmos Live.
With subsequent events taking place on November 15 and November 21, Gucci Cosmos Live introduced guests to a range of speakers working at the forefront of the creative industries, and the guest list wasn’t too shabby either. Didn’t manage to make it? Here’s everything you need to know.
THE TALKS SPANNED MUSIC, FASHION, AND MORE
Through a series of live panels, Gucci Cosmos Live aimed to celebrate many facets of the creative industries, including style and culture, legacy and future, and fashion and art, and it definitely didn’t disappoint. On the first night, guests were treated to an exploration of “Sound, Light and Language” – AKA the creative connections formed by music – while the second event offered takes on “Style, Symbolism and Storytelling” that revolved around Gucci’s creative universe. The series was then rounded out on the third and final night with takes on “Identity, Influence and Innovation”.
SOME BIG NAMES TOLD THEIR STORIES
Needless to say, Gucci doesn’t get just anybody to guide its guests through all things style and culture. On November 7, the series started off strong with panel appearances from Coucou Chloe, Julianknxx, and Errol, who were hosted by Hikari Yokoyama. After that, Tim Blanks was joined by Campbell Addy, Katie Grand, and Holly Blakey for the “Style, Symbolism and Storytelling” event, and just a week later Gucci invited writer Afua Hirsch, Molly Manning Walker, Ronan Mckenzie, and Yasmin Finney to close out the series.
THE GUEST LIST WAS PRETTY STACKED, TOO
Given the talks on offer, it’s no surprise that the guest seats were also filled with a who’s who of the city’s fashion and culture scenes. Think: Jawara Alleyne, Celeste, Saul Nash, Gareth Pugh, Ryan Lo, K Bailey Obazee, and Stephen Isaac-Wilson, who were joined by the likes of Dazed founders Jefferson Hack and Rankin, Anna Cleveland, Princess Julia, Pam Hogg, and many more.
THE DRINKS AND TUNES WERE FLOWING, OBVIOUSLY
Needless to say, there was plenty of time in between cutting-edge art and fashion insights to kick back and relax, with drinks and exclusive sets from guest DJs. Flick through the gallery above for a closer look.
GUESTS GOT TO PREVIEW GUCCI’S ONLINE ART SPACE
Last but not least, the final night of Gucci Cosmos Live included an extra-special glimpse of a new instalment of the label’s Gucci Art Space platform, a “free-dimensional space empowering contemporary artists”. Created in partnership with Christie’s, the online gallery spotlights artists working at the intersection of fashion, art, and technology, making for an appropriate end to the series as a whole.
