Sanvee Cédric is a 21-year-old model who has worked with renowned brands such as Louis Vuitton, Off-White, Gucci and Cartier. Beyond modelling for prestigious brands and publications, Cédric is also a passionate dancer.
From an early age, he embraced various dance styles without confinement, seeing dancing as a spiritual and contemplative experience. A study of energy and feelings that goes beyond simply moving through space.
We spoke to the model and dancer about the first time he became aware of the power of music, the worst advice he’s ever received, and his weirdest internet obsession.
When did you first become aware of the power of good music?
Sanvee Cédric: I became aware of the power of good music from a young age, thanks to my father’s versatility as a musician. He emphasised the importance of being curious and having multiple skills. To have several strings to one’s bow.
What song could you not stop playing growing up?
Sanvee Cédric: Music’s impact on emotions and its role in my education have been profound. The song I couldn’t stop playing growing up was ‘Back to My Roots’ by Lucky Dube.

What is your earliest music memory?
Sanvee Cédric: Around age five, I used to wear some of my mom’s clothes with her sunglasses and put her red nail polish and a clothespin in my mouth as a cigar to dance to Douk Saga songs. Douk Saga was an Ivorian singer and the creator of Coupé-décalé music, very popular all over Africa and Europe in the 2000s, such a precursor!

Sanvee Cédric: Fear of failing.
If you could only listen to one musician for the rest of your life, who would it be?
Sanvee Cédric: Richard Bona. He’s a great Cameroonian artist for whom the logic of the notes has no secrets.

What fictional character do you most relate to and why?
Sanvee Cédric: I most relate to Denzel Washington, especially his portrayal of Frank Lucas in American Gangster in 2007. His talent, dedication, and integrity, both on and off screen, inspire me. He embodies success and values like hard work and generosity.
